Brian McCoy

Non Executive Chairman

Brian is a customer focused, highly motivated and visionary business professional with over 30 years experience across the Telecommunications Multinational Marketing, Design and Manufacturing industry in Europe, Ireland, the USA, the Far East and China. Brian has a proven track record of leading, directing and chairing fast growing international businesses and is based in Cork, Ireland.

Brian holds an Electrical Engineering Degree from Kevin Street College of Technology Trinity College in Dublin and a Masters in Industrial Engineering from University College, Dublin, Ireland. Brian spent 8 years working for General Electric in Dundalk, starting on GE’s two year Graduate Development Program. He worked in Marketing and various engineering roles until he was promoted to Quality Manager and then Operations Manager for Intersil, an IC manufacturer owned by GE. Brian then spent two years working for Apple Computers in Dallas, TX and Cork, Ireland in Project, Production and Quality Management roles. After that he spent 20 years with M/A Com Eurotec Operations (Tyco) in a variety of roles including operations, R&D and General Management. Brian was promoted to Managing Director and with his team grew this high-margin business very rapidly to having a Headquarters and 600 employees in Cork and 4000 employees in the Far East. While based in Cork, Brian also managed two teams in Boston, MA in Quality/Customer Relations for a half-billion dollar business. This meant spending two weeks out of every four in Boston and/or visiting M/A Com’s customers globally.

Brian has held and holds a number of directorships. He served ten years, two of them as Chairman, with the Cork Electronics Industry Association (CEIA), 3 years as Director of Ireland’s Industrial Research and Development Group (IRDG), ten years as Director of Cork’s BIC Business and Innovation Centre (BIC), two years as Chairman of Ireland’s Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), two years as Senior Partner of RPI Associates Research, Productivity and Innovation and four years as Non-Executive Director of AI Advanced Innovations. Brian has served as Non-Executive Chairman of AI since early 2009.
